Coffee, sweet coffee
You are inevitable!
You warm me when I am cold
You make me get to work
I feel sad when you are left out in the compound
And rain drains your purity
Like a worn-out flower
Battered by the sun
As a child, I remember when…
I would pick you up from under the tree
And watch you dry up for sale
Then buy cookies and balloons
I hate to see them
Planting you on the bleak soil
And expecting you to retain your beauty
By feeding you with fertilizers
Not all hope is gone
Gradually but surely, you will rise again
Farmers are making everything possible
To uplift your growth and development

Lindah,
For some reason I find this poem funny. (Don't mind me)
Itz cool and simple.
Love for coffee...*sigh*
Although I cannot relate, I share the same kind of love for COCOA...:)
Poellowcase
I like this installation.
Beyond the obvious, I observed the innuendos. I’m not sure that is intended.
But I like it. The love for coffee sounds powerfully romantic, except for the third verse.
The last verse got me laughing. The poet, in my opinion, is saying…
Not all hope is gone
Gradually but surely, you will rise again
Doctors are working in their labs to produce improved seeds (in this case, Aphrodisiac)
;)
@ oracle, Just patched up some of the random coffee memoirs. How are you?
@ Jaycee, that must be a sweet tooth.
@ Aloofar, you are a true analyst, but did you mention doctors?
man...they contribute to the destruction of coffee.
Some of these chemicals and fertilizers invite coffee pests and diseases. For instance, Mbarara was one of the outstanding districts in Uganda, known for growing and producing excellent coffee in the 90s, but a mysterious disease, 'toduula' which means don't brag, left most of the coffee field as empty as shells. I hate fertilizerz........
Nice, nice prose Lindah. I had to read it a few times to take in the underlying meaning, but it was worth it. I love this piece. It shows reflection and growth.
